The tank and mounting holes appear to be in good shape. : Any tips on this? thanks Well, we had the same problem and obviously we didn't want to crack the tank by overtightening so we drained and dried it and applied a water proof silicone and its been 10 + years with no leak, although we never figured out why it leaked in the first place, ie new washers etc...
