It will work, but it may also siphon the water out of the trap, thus negating the purpose for the trap. It is also an illegal piping connection. : The trap of my bathtub is below the joist level of my basement. Can I raise it a bit to between the joists? Instead of coming out of the trap into a four foot almost horizontal run...it would form another curve and drop several inches before entering the run. In other words - drop to trap...come up out of trap...turn down again for several inches...then turn into the horizontal run. Will it work?
