In some cases, it is especially desirable. Since the softening process hard ions are replaced by sodium ions, (assuming you use salt and not potassium), and people who desire a low sodium diet should not drink the soft water. Therefore, an RO system is desirable for drinking purposes. Scottsdale/Cave Creek
