Sometimes water meters make that sound. Does your
complex share water or do you have an individual meter? Just a guess.
: I live in a townhouse that is about 12 years old. Within the past year, the water pipes have been making a ticking sound -- sounds like a clock. Sometimes this lasts for a few seconds; sometimes for as long as an hour. I happens when the water's not running. When it's running, you can't hear it. Seems to happen early in the day and late at night, but happens anytime. No pattern. No neighbors have this problem. I've asked a plumber to take a look; he couldn't find the source. Any ideas on what the problem may be and how to fix it? I'm concerned that if I try to sell, I won't be able to.
