I am looking at a lead lip and pipe that the toilet is attached to (and the flange is under) and it
extends about 10 inches down where it meets the cast bell for the soil pipe.
I am going to replace the toilet but the lip on that holds the flange on is broken in one spot.
I am assuming that it is lead soldered into the bell.
Question: Can I remove this lead pipe and convert to PVC? This is my choice, and hence the real
question. How to remove the pipe. will a propane torch be enough to melt the solder. Should I cut
the lead pipe and ripe it out, the lead pipe is very soft?
Thank you in advance.
