It could be the toilet or something in the toilet. Which model Kohler is it?
Sometimes something like a toy, dog bone, makeup pencil will get stuck and cause clogs.
Clearing the trapway helps in these cases, either by using a closet auger or at worst removing the toilet to remove the object from the bottom side and reinstalling .
If water is poured in slowly, it should maintain water in the bowl. If the water in the bowl leaves after setting, it would indicate a leak. Sometimes the water in the leaking bowl will find its way down without showing up on the floor.
