UNKNOWN NOISES

THIS MAY NOT BE A PLUMBING PROBLEM BUT AM STUMPED. WE
OCCUPY A 20 YR. OLD RAISED RANCH. WITHIN THE LAST
6 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD UNEXPLAINED NOISES ONLY AT NIGHT.
THE NOISES ARE A LOUD THUMP (LIKE A BASKETBALL BEING
THROWN AGAINST SIDING, OR AN OUTSIDE DOOR BEING
SLAMMED SHUT.) THIS ONLY HAPPENS AT NIGHT AND ONLY
MAYBE 2-3 TIMES A WEEK. THESE NOISES ARE LOUD ENOUGH
TO WAKE EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE. IT IS CONFINED TO ONE WALL ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE HOUSE. I DON'T BELIEVE THERE ARE ANY PIPES INSIDE THAT WALL, AND DONT THINK A PIPE CAN MAKE SUCH A LOUD NOISE. THERE IS
NO EXPLANATION THAT I CAN THINK OF! WOULD YOU
SUGGEST A CARPENTER, PLUMBER, HOME INSPECTOR?? THX. BOB
