I have a gas furnace that the pilot light will not stay lit. In the pilot lighting mode, plenty of gas pressure to the pilot and it stays lit as long as i hold the manual pushbutton down. When I release even after holding for a long time, the pilot goes out.
I understand that the thermocoupler is supposed to heat up, generate a voltage which then should pull a solenoid to allow gas to continue to flow. Is there a way to measure the voltage produced from the thermocoupler
to see if it's the coupler itself or the solinoid within the control unit ?
