If the valve is leaking, it is due to one of two things. Either the cartidge is bad or the internal seat has been damaged. The spout has nothing to do with leaking, and the plastic handle just turns it off and on. : My shower faucet leaks all the time, no matter what I do. A plumber told me the mixit cartridge was in : good shape and I should replace the plastic handle. Idid and now I'm being told I need to replace the faucet : spout, since it slopes first up and down. I think this is bogus as the shower dripped before this when I : used to leave the lever up all the time. I believe the valve casing the mixit valve sits in is damaged as it is about : 18 years old, and assume if that is replaced, it will stop leaking. Any suggestions? : robyn
