The plastic pipe has to have transition fittings at each end to go from the horizontal plastic and come out of the ground. Plastic cannot be used less than 18" below ground. You must use steel pipe from the transition fitting to the fireplaces.
: I am having two gas fireplaces inserts installed. I am going to run the gas line myself from the meter to the units. It will be a 34" line 18" underground for 40 ft along the slab then mount to the side of the house for 15 ft to gain access to the attic. Run across the attic and down to the units. Each unit is in different rooms but next to each other and each will have a gas cut of vavle. My question is; Should I use the plastic pipe made for gas lines the hole distance, or once it comes out the ground switch to black metal gas pipe? Also should I connect the plastic pipe straight to the meter.
