Our water does not smell, but new dishes and silverware washed by hand periodically reek with an odor like rotting seaweed or sewer material combined with a stone or metallic odor. The smell usually disappears in an half hour, but reoccurs every time a dish is washed or when it has food on it--we have to use clorox to kill the odor. Could backflow cause this? Our pipes are joined with the fellow's upstairs--he reports that periodically his toilet fills really slowly and he has to wait overnight to have enough water to flush--could we be getting his outflow? |
