There can be a number of reasons for sewer gas. You may have a floor drain that the water has evaporated out .Also any trap that has not been in use may have dried up. Your wax seal may be bad. You need to use the good old nose and smell around the toilet. Clean the lav overflo with clorox. If this house has old cast iron it may have a crack in the vent pipe.Good luck on your search.
