Hydrochloric acid and use it very carefully and in a safe area with proper personal protection. Or hire a professional to do it for you. : My pool heater thumps (boiling) after running for about 3 minutes. It mometarily goes off on the high temp limit and then refires. The water flow is fine. Water in our area is VERY hard. I think the the tubes are calcified causing hot spots. The out-flow has coughed up about 1/2 cup of calcium flakes in the last week. What should I use to de-calcify the boiler tubes?
