I am an accomplished DIYer and I am building an addition to my house that will have a master bedroom, bath and laundry. The addition will be on a 3' high unheated crawl space. I live in Virginia, which has hot summers and cold winters. My question is how to plumb the waste lines to prevent freezing of the shower and tub traps. Also, is it better to plumb the waste lines below the joists or go between them? Won't the traps still be below the joists.
