: Tried upgrading steel water line to copper. While trying to undo the steel lines sprung a leak on the outside
: (street side) of the water meter. Had to get the water shut off to the house.

: While exposing the leak I found the steel pipe connected to lead piping going out to the street.

: How do I connect copper pipe to the lead pipe ???? Help !! Help!!. I don't want to dig up the lead pipe
: to the street. (big money) It's about 75 feet or more to the street.

: All the pipe size looks to be 1/2 inch and the previous connection looks like the lead was melted (sweated)
: on the steel pipe...

: Can copper and lead pipe by hooked together?????

Ted, I think you should change this line. Do some research on lead poison. I can't say for sure if you can get lead poison from this old pipe. I hope someone on the post can answer that. I personally would tear it out and put in a pvc line.Dale
