: My wife and I just bought a house and a pipe in the basement drips water when the toilet is flushed. It is a lead pipe and the place the water drips from has a white residue all around the pipe. This is where the pipe fits into another one. Is there somethin i can wrap around the pipe to stop the dripping?

If you are talking about the lead seal between the lead bend and the cast iron hub, you can use a flat blade screwdriver and tap in a line on the center of the joint, which will expand the lead seal.

Or, you can replace the entire lead bend with plastic pipe and a new rubber seal at the cast iron hub. Terry
