: I am ready to install a shutoff valve in the gas outlet in my laundry room. I purchased the vale and the thread sealant. I know I must shutoff the main valve before I remove the end cap...this will, I believe, turn off pilot lights on furnace, water heater and oven. I checked water heater and oven, but cannot find pilot light which is supposed to be on now. I haven't checked furnace yet. All of these appliance are 6 years old. Is it possible for these appliance not to have a pilot light? or do I need to look further?

Yuji.are there instructions as to how to light the pilot on the water heater? as far as the stove ,well it could have electronic ignition pilots.Dale
