Apparently I have a large deposit ot lint which nothing seems to penetrate inclucing the snake I rented. Ed, in my opinion you have tree roots in the 4" line and you need to dig up the 4" line and install a 4" clean out so that you can get a 3-1/2" cutter in the line.there may be other problems with this line but this is where i would start.
