I am in the process of replacing a 40 gal. gas water heater in a gararge (on top of an appropriate stand, of course). I know that I need to run a 3/4" copper line down the side of the water heater from the T&P valve to drain water in the case of an over-temp or over-pressure condition. What is the recommended height above the floor that this drain line should end? Is there a minimum or maximum distance? Is there a reason that I can't put a 90 degree ell on the bottom of that drain line to direct any water toward the front of the garage (and away from the drywall?) Thanks, John |
