Last Thursday, we ran out of hot water and I discovered the pilot light was out. No big deal..right? Wrong! Since then, I have had to re-light the water heater everyday. I check it before I go to bed, still on. When I leave for work in the morning, the pilot is on. But by the time I get home in the afternoon it's out. It lights-up right away without any problems, and all other gas appliances in the house work fine. Any ideas on what could be causing the gas shut-off? Do I need a new water heater or just a new control unit? Could there be blockage somewhere next to the pilot which causes it to go out, and if so can I clean the line out? Any help is appreciated. |
