: What does it mean when the lower drain of a water heater is dripping? Do I need to replace the water heater or is there some way to repaire it?

Mark,
If the water is dripping out of the water heater drain, the fitting at the bottom, it may not mean much. Sometimes when the drain is opened and closed, "crud" to use the "plumbers" term, can lodge between the smooth mating surfaces that enable a good clean cutoff of the water. You may want to open the drain, with hose attached and see if you can flush out any crud. Lower drains be also be replaced. Terry
