: The kitchen stack is accessible in the basement - - can I still use 1-1/2" pipe and does it matter where I connect to this vent?

a vents purpose is to let air into the drainage system so the waste can drain away. or else it,s like putting your finger an the end of a straw full of water it dosnt go any where. if you hook the vent in below flood level of a fixture if it,s drain plugs the waste overflows and runs down the vent. thats why you have to tie in the vent 6in. ABOVE the flood level . your kitchen sink/counter is app. 36in tall so the vent needs to be tied in at 42in. should be clear as mud for you now. happy venting
