|In response to Re: basement floordrain backup|
: I have a 22 year old ranch style home. It has a well, septic system, sump pump and watersoftener. Lately when the water softener runs to regenerate, water backs up from the drain pipe in floor some 8 feet away. I can hear the sump pump kick in pumping the water out and the water recides. Why could this be happening and what might I check first. Suggestions welcome.
Pat, the first thing i would check is the septic tank. when was the last time it was pumped. should be done every 2-3 years depending on the size of the family. 22 years is about average for the laterials. also check the sewer line from the house to the tank. it may be plugged. Dale
