: we have a large (42 gal?) pressure tank on our well water system. the pump kicks on almost immediatley when we turn on the water, and stops when it's shut off. i assume it is apressure tank problem. what is the procedure for recharging the tank and how much air pressure should i use? thanks alot for any help or advice. s. if it is a precharged tank throw it away and get a new one. if you knock on the tank and it sounds full the blader is shot. if not then the pressure switch needs adjusting.you may burn your pump out if you let it go to long.
