This is the time to put that tub access door in. Should have been there in the first place. Then get a toe pop-up, through out the plug, insert a basket strainer to catch hair, and use a plain old rubber stopper for baths. Much more efficient and clean.

: boy, your in a mess. can you spray wd40 down the overflow tube from the top. take a pair of pliers and grag the rod and keep on working it. if you do not succeed then you have no choice but to cut the wall i guess. good luck. Dale
