How thin can you successfully cut a piece of Wonderboard?

I have an area about 4" wide that I'd like to cover
with Wonderboard. I have read that you score and
then snap it to cut a piece. Will this work ok for small
widths, or does it crumble if you're cutting too close
to the edge? Thanks in advance for any help.
