To change the drain from a tub to a shower will require breaking some concrete. This is not a big deal and "should" be done. The price range you are in will determine whether to use an architect/designer, or a bath remodel contractor. More planning in the design stages will cost a bit more but will produce a very custom job. Few plumbers will do more than just the plumbing. If a General contractor does the job, he should use plumbers as one of the subcontractors.
