|In response to Re: Vapor Barrier behind wonderboard|
I have been told by tile installers, that a vapor barrier should be between the wood and the wonderboard, but not elsewhere. I have been told that it is better for the Wonderboard to be open to the back. I hope they are right.
As to the recessed ceiling to the attic, I would go ahead and close it off. There are pesky critters that like to roam inside walls where they can find gaps.
: I need some advice. Is a vapor barrier (4 mil) required behind wonderboard? Also, I have a recessed ceiling in the shower/tub area and I want to close it off with green board. Does it need to be ventilated from the attic, or could it be air tight?
