I do not understand what you mean by "less grout lines', since the grout is the only thing that would seal the cracks between the tiles. If you use an epoxy grout, the grout will not normally mildew or stain. Corian and cultured marble do not have a good drain seal and will often leak and let water accumulate under the floor and become foul smelling. A good pan installation, with a proper concrete set tile will usually give the best shower stall. I HEARD THAT TILE ON A BASE GETS DIRTY& CAN LEAK IF NOT NOT DONE RIGHT.WE ALSO HEARD THAT AN ACRYLIC BASE OR FIBER GLASS CAN CRACK. .CAN YOU GET A CAST IRON SHOWER BASE?
