: Tonight I found a pin hole in a cold water pipe spraying water into the basement. The same pipe has several small areas of blue deposit where new leaks apparently are forming. (several feet apart). This problem area is in a new addition to my house built in 1979. The old copper plumbing dating back to 1939 is fine. This seems to dispel a lot of theories on water acidity, lightning, and hot water heater problems. No consolation to me.

This may be electrolosis from electrical grounds on the plumbing.
