: I just replaced my 19 year old RHEEM Gas Water Heater. The replacement is an A.O. Smith model FSG 50 242. : It was recommended by the plumbing company for value. : I paid $485 including installation. : I have never heard of A.O. Smith. : Does A.O. Smith have a good reputation for quality? : Is this a good brand and model for residential use, and how does it compare with other brands?, i.e. RHEEM : Thank you, this comes a few years after your note, but for anyones info, a.o. smith tops the aceee's (american council for an energy-efficient economy) list of top-rated energy-efficient water heaters-- both 30 and 40 gallon tanks. see www.aceee.org/consumerguide/. |
