When our family built our house we exclusively used the grey coils of polybutyline pipe. It installed like a snap. (Of course you need the manufacturer's own fittings, which incorporate a unique system of lock washers and threaded clamp downs. No glue, no soldering) However, it requires far less fittings because of it's ability to wrap around corners. Basically, you only need fittings at T-junctions and at the taps. In my opinion, this piping is great. It has been going strong in my family's home for over twenty years. Less leaks and maintenance because there are less joints AND it will even expand and contract if it freezes!
