We have an 11 year old home. Lately, when we take a shower, give the children a bath or our dishwasher drains, a knocking noise seems to come from a pipe in the ceiling below the bath, but above the dishwasher. I thought it was due to expansion due to the fact that the dishwasher is on the first floor of the house and when it drains, we can hear the noise above the living room ceiling, not to mention that the water is hot. My wife is driving me crazy, because she thinks that I am wrong and that it is something else, she thinks we should have the lines snaked. She in fact, is ready to knock out the wall where the sound is coming from and take an aluminum bat to the pipe. Can anybody give me a clue as to what they think this problem could be? I really dread coming home and finding my wife tearing out the drywall. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I love your site!!
