Your pressure tank is waterlogged, i.e. it has little or no air in it. It needs air to store pressure, as water itself is not compressible. If it is the old type without a diaphragm, you need to drain the water out of it. If it is the new type with a diaphragm, you need a new tank.
: I have a 1/2 hp pump which kicks on and off immediately. The pressure range is from 40 to 20 approximately, but it reaches these points instantly and continuously. Can the problem be a pressure switch?
