Check to see if there are galvanized pipes into the water heater. Sometimes the installers use a steel pipe that has a plastic liner as a di-electric fitting. They can rust when water gets behind the plastic. If you have had an element replaced lately and the water heater is a State with a Duron liner, installing the wrong element will cause rust. There are several possibilities with the tank rusting being one of them.
: I think that my hot water tank has rust in it. It is only 5 years old. The water is yellow with stuff in it. The cold water is clear.
