A sweat female adapter at the meter, and soldered right to the pipe from the house, (or with a union), and a shut off valve in the line. : my house was built in 1956 and had all galvanized pipe. I have replaced it all with copper. I could hear what sounded like water running but couldn't find any leaks. Ifinally traced it to a break at one of the joints in the supply line comming from the meter, a tree root had pushed up on it and cracked it. I have dug up the line from the meter to the house and am ready to replace it with copper. My concern is how i figure the type of connectors to use and what diameter pipe.
