|In response to Re: septic field old and pipes clogged|
Removing the roots will not help. Since the pipe has to be open to allow the absorbsion, the roots will grow back. And regardless of the type of pipe, the area around it has to be renewed to allow the percolation/drainage. That is the real reason for a new field, rather than just needing new pipes.
: Tank was drained yesterday and we were advised to have a new field dug. As 'do it yourselfers' we have already dug up one section of pipe and have taken the sections apart and cleared out dirt and roots. Is there any advantage to replacing clay pipe with pvc, and what type. There are 3 lines of pipe. Any advise is helpful.
