Before you change the thermostat, or anything else, find out what the problem is. The most likely problem is a burned out lower element which has bypassed the thermostats and therefore overheats the water. : The reset button on my water heater has tripped 5 times in the last 3 days. I'm going to change the thermostat but is there anything else I should be concerned about?
