It could be black pipe, not cast iron, but more likely there is a galvanized steel pipe somewhere in that area that has lost its internal coating and is rusting. The less the plumbing in that area is used the worse the discoloration will be since it will accumulate during inactive periods.
: I'm repeating my earlier question 'cause no one replied. Overnight the water, only in our downstairs bathroom, turned brown in the sink, shower and toilet tank. Kitchen not affected. What could be the reason for this? Appreciate any advice. Thanks and regards, Ric.
