: Recently we noticed the constant sound of running water in the bathrooms, but have found no evidence of leaks in or under (crawl space) the house. We did locate a leak in the main water line coming to the house (underground) and had it repaired, but this has not stopped the noise of running water. We have also noticed that both water lines to/from the hot water heater are hot when no hot water is being used. We turned off the water heater overnight, but the noise still occurs. The water heater is 12 years old. Are we dealing with a water heater problem, or do we still have a leak somewhere?

Chuck,
Put dye in the tank of the toilets to determine if they are leaking water. When a flapper goes bad, you can loose a lot of water.
