: It seems that when constructing a mud/tile shower floor, sometimes a sloped subfloor is prepared with mud before the vinyl liner is put down, sometimes the liner is put down directly over a level subfloor. Is it really necessary to have the sloped subfloor? Opinions? Thanks. JP You can put the pan over a level floor if: You don't mind smelly mold, you like the look of efflorescence on the surface of your shower floor, and you like the idea of having a subterranian swamp two inches below your feet.
