I installed a Moen Roman tub filler a few weeks ago, and ye you can change the rotation of the handles by adjusting the stem that the handles are fastened onto. These stems,as I recall, have a geared or notched end that fits inside the valve body, and by rotating this stem to another notch, you can change the rotation of the handle. It may take a few attempts to get it to where you want. Sorry for the poor explanation, but I'm sure it can be done. I know I didn't have to swap the hot and cold handles or their parts. If in doubt, check the instructions or contact the 800 number for Moen. Good luck!
