Q - wax ring / toilet install..

hi,
ive gota quick question about the installation of the Wax Ring for toilet install procedures.
I know the pkg of the 'No-Seep' (brand i used) says to press it onto the toilet and then
place onto flange/bolts, BUT
when I first tried this out, the wax ring would fall off (because I must have bumped one of
the bolts) even though it was pretty sticky.

Instead, I pressed the wax ring onto the flange and then put the toilet down.

From the pro's out there: Can you give me any hints for the future(wanna replace the toilet
in the upstairs)??? - is there problems that can come from putting the ring on the flange first??
