bypass valve for water softener

We currently have a shutoff valve on the supply line going to our water softener and it has been
suggested that we install a bypass valve. Do you or anyone have any suggestions about type
or brand of valve. Also any tips on configuration would be apprieciated. Scott

The bypass valve is one-third of the solution. You want the bypass valve and then also install shutoff valves on both sides of the softener between the bypass and the softener tank

I like Red & White ball valves. Stainless steel ball in a teflon seat. Yeah!
