Why should he have to absorb the cost of the repair. Did someone tell him that that particular joist had to be moved from its specified position, in which case another would have to be installed on the other side to maintain maximum spacing? And the toilet outlet cannot be rotated to the side, since the toilet would then have to be wider (on both sides to be symetrical), to cover the offset.
: Does anyone, hopefully Toto, make toilet where the roughin can be shifted to the right or the left? My framer just finished a job where a wood-I is exactly under the rough in for the toilet in a room that is only 31" wide.
: The joist is glued, screwed, and decked. I really hate to back charge him for the cost of the repairs. I have used 10", 12" and 14" front to back roughs, but I never had this crop up again.
: Offset closet adapters are not legal under local plumbing code.
