I'm a tile contractor, and of course I'm not biased, but tile is the way to go. :-)
Seriously, cultured marble is plastic, which I suppose is okay if you like plastic. It's no better or no worse than fiberglass showers.
Cultured marble is installed with caulking, which is not permanent. It scratches easily. It costs as much or more than a good ceramic installation.
Are there any drawbacks to tile? Of course not.
