First the vent should be within four feet of the trap. Second unless the laundry and sink come off the same riser, (which would require that one of them have a very long branch arm), the vent will not be coming off above the sink trap anyway. The plumbing inspector should catch the error if he is any good at his job.
: My plumber has installed a new drain for the kitchen sink but did not install a vent. He said that the vent from the laundry room which is 15 feet away will vent the kitchen. I say that it should have its own vent. This is a new roughin in a new house. Who is right according to code??
