Bleeding air from underfloor heating

I have just installed an underfloor heating system with 5 zones. Each zone has it's own flow and return from one common manifold.
The flow has a automatic air vent and the return has a manual air relief valve. I find that the heat travels approx 1 metre from the manifold down the flow pipe and then appears to cool very rapidly and therefor is not travelling around the pipework giving off heat.
This is the same for all 5 zones and I can only think that it is due to air being trapped somewhere in the loops. I can only think of taking the return pipe off the manifold 1 zone at a time and allowing the water to flow right through the zone and then connecting it back up, but this way is going to be very messy with all that water coming out.
Can you help me please.

Thanks a lot

Kind regards

Ps A brilliant site. Will tell my friends!!!
