: Could the plumber's putty be used to seal threaded brass connections for cold water supply line, instead of using the pipe joint compound or Teflon tape? If not, what implications would this have down the road if done?
Many years ago, when I was an apprentice, I was the "kid" who mixed putty with linseed oil to make the pipe dope...
It works, and does last.... Teflon is cleaner and seals very nicely...
