According to the Uniform Plumbing Code, Paragraph 408.6, the front must have at least 24 inches from the nearest edge to the nearest wall or door. The minimum distance to a sidewall from the center of the toilet is 15 inches. However, for handicap accessible facilities, the front clearance must be at least 48 inches with a side distance of 18 inches (ANSI A117.1-1992) John Scates
